Northwest Michigan Council of Governments is a regional organization serving units of government, businesses, non-profits, community organizations, and individuals. 

Our mission is to build stronger communities and improve quality of life in Northwest Michigan.

Our hallmarks are public-private partnership, innovation, collaboration and sustainability.

We provide a variety of programs and services within the region, with particular emphasis on partnerships, economy of scale, and leveraging resources to address common concerns among multiple organizations or across sectors.

Our primary service categories are: workforce development; business & economic development; regional planning & community development; community safety.

About NWMCOG

Founded in 1973, the Northwest Michigan Council of Governments (NWMCOG) facilitates and manages programs for the ten counties in our region. These programs include Northwest Michigan Works, Workforce Development Board, Northwest Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center, TeamWork NorthWest, the Procurement Technical Assistance Center program, Northwest Michigan Sustainable Business Forum, KAL-TEC, Healthcare Regional Skills Alliance of Northwest Michigan, the Regional Planning Department and the Regional Repository for US Census data.

NWMCOG's member counties are: Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, and Wexford.
