Pure Michigan Hospitality Training

The Pure Michigan Hospitality Training program is a customized program for the front-line employees in the Hospitality Industry in the State of Michigan. The program was developed as a regional collaboration between the Convention and Visitor's Bureau and Michigan Works! under the Southeast Michigan Regional Skills Alliance for Hospitality and Tourism to foster skill development in Customer Service and to promote state and regional destinations for travel. Adopted by the Michigan Travel Commission as a state-wide initiative, it is presented in an interactive manner and in a four-hour session, the program has two main objectives:

• To review and practice the behaviors that provide exemplary customer service.
• To learn local facts, attractions, information and directions to provide visitors compelling reasons to visit our great state.

RECENT TRAINING:

The Hospitality RSA of Northwest Michigan sponsored Pure Michigan Training programs in the region including training sessions at Crystal Mountain Resort, Shanty Creek Resort & Spa, McGuire's Resort, and the Park Place Hotel.

Pure Michigan Hospitality Training Targets Customer Service
People interested in improving customer service came to Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa to learn from the Pure Michigan Hospitality Training Program.

"Customer service is the basis," said Jane Bertsch, Pure Michigan Training Program facilitator. "If you don't have a high level of customer service, you're not going to attract people back. Because Michigan at this point in time really needs the returns, you want people to come, and then you want them to tell others and come back."
 

Tim Allen, who often talks about and wears his Michigan pride, provided voice talent for the Pure Michigan tourism advertisements. His work helped the Pure Michigan tourism promotion campaign be recognized as Forbes' one of the All-time 10 best tourism campaigns worldwide.
