Looking to enjoy the beautiful northern Michigan weather and help out our community? The Northwest Michigan Council of Governments (NWMCOG) is partnering with the Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA) and the Michigan land Use Institute (MLUI) to offer technical assistance in creating a BATA system-wide bus stop inventory. The inventory will include primary data collection techniques through on-site observations and in-house data analysis.
Who benefits? Eventually, BATA is looking to update their online system and utilize the inventory results to improve their efficiency. Your time spent assessing bus stops will help BATA better serve our community! Volunteers will have the opportunity to partner with others and can walk, bike, or drive the BATA routes and use a checklist template to inventory various characteristics associated with each bus stop.

The public transit agencies have formed a Directors Network that convenes regularly to share information and to identify and implement collaborative projects that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of transit services across the region.
