The Workforce Investment Act funds key career development and worker support services to individuals. The program makes possible services to promote access to employment and to develop workers' skills. As the primary funding source for Michigan's No Worker Left Behind program, it serves job seekers; youth; workers affected by job outsourcing; veterans; the disabled, and individuals seeking training or career advancement. An essential component of regional and state collaborations to support and identify high growth industries, the Workforce Investment Act supports the state Michigan Regional Skills Alliances. Partnerships with regional educational secondary and post-secondary educational institutions align curriculum with current labor market trends. Services to area employers create employment, training, and supported apprenticeship opportunities for employees.
