Workforce Investment Act Comprehensive Plan
Northwest Michigan Workforce Investment Act Plan for Five Years
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 provides funding for workforce development programs for eligible Adults, Dislocated Workers, and Youth. In Michigan, these services are delivered under the banner "Michigan WORKS!" Statewide branding provides credibility and recognition. WIA also offers the flexibility for local control, allowing regional Workforce Development Boards to set priorities and direct programs in a way that meets local needs.
The Northwest Michigan Workforce Development Board provides the vision and guidance for local use of WIA funding in the Workforce Investment Act Comprehensive Five-Year Plan. This plan incorporates use of WIA funds allocated by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009.
